Themed Cosmos Flower Exhibition Adds Color to Victoria Park Starting March 14

This year's Hong Kong Flower Show will be held from March 14 to 23 at Victoria Park, lasting for ten days. The opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event features the colorful cosmos as the theme flower, with the theme 'Blooming Elegance.' The cosmos petals are as light as gauze, swaying in the wind, exuding a gentle and captivating aura. Its strong vitality symbolizes strength and happiness, and the blooming cosmos will bring vigor and vitality to the flower show.

Cosmos is an annual herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, native to Mexico. After years of natural propagation and artificial hybridization, many varieties and cultivars have been derived, each with unique characteristics such as rolled, ligulate, or double petals. Cosmos is highly adaptable to climate and soil, even thriving in barren soils.

The flowers of the cosmos are large and beautiful, with a blooming period that can last for several months. The colors are bright and varied, including pure colors such as pink, peach, magenta, pink, and pure white, as well as special varieties with bicolor, edged, striped, and inner circle dyed patterns.

Due to its strong vitality, rich colors, long blooming period, and ease of cultivation and maintenance, cosmos has always been an ideal plant for roadside beautification, flower bed potted plants, and floral arrangements. In addition, it can not only decorate the environment but also be used as food and medicine. The whole plant of cosmos can be used as traditional Chinese medicine with the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying. In Southeast Asia, young shoots and leaves of cosmos are also used in dishes.

In addition to the theme flower and other flowers, the flower show will also feature potted plants carefully cultivated by local, mainland, and overseas organizations, beautifully designed floral arrangements, and creative garden landscapes. There will also be sales booths for flowers and gardening products. During the exhibition, the event will host various educational and entertaining activities suitable for the whole family.

The flower show is organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and has been supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for thirteen consecutive years, becoming the main sponsor since 2014.
