Shing Mun Reservoir, a beginner-friendly hiking trail.

Shing Mun Reservoir is an easily accessible hiking spot that even those who don't hike often can reach with ease.

If you're looking for a low-effort, low-difficulty hike with various photo spots, consider taking a loop around Shing Mun Reservoir.

Along the way, you'll pass by the Butterfly Garden, the Melaleuca forest, and the impressive main dam of Shing Mun Reservoir. (I think the main dam looks better in photos when taken from a distance 😂). Standing on the main dam, feeling the breeze while looking at the reservoir, is very relaxing 😌.

Surrounded by lush green forests, the sound of birds complementing the flowing water, and the low-cost beauty of the scenery, chatting with a few close friends about life's little things—what an easy way to de-stress, right? 🙈

You might even occasionally encounter a few mischievous monkeys 🐒.

⚠️⚠️⚠️

Do not make eye contact with them. Last time, one slipped on the railing and got angry at us 😂😂, very fierce.

Do not feed the monkeys 🐒

Do not touch or attack the monkeys 🐒

Keep food and plastic bags in your backpack.

Route: Start hiking behind the Pineapple Dam minibus stop, follow the signs, and don't take any forks in the road. The route is simple, and you'll pass by the Melaleuca forest where you can stop for photos before continuing.

If you don't start in the morning, it's recommended to take a loop around the reservoir, which takes about 3 hours.

Transportation:

🚌 Bus: 1. From Tsuen Wan MTR Station Exit B1, walk to Siu Wo Street and take minibus 82 to the terminus (Pineapple Dam). Hike to Shing Mun Reservoir.

🚌 Buses from various districts: 32, 36, 40X, 47X, 48X, etc. Get off at the "Ho Fung College" stop, walk forward, and follow Shing Mun Road uphill for 15-20 minutes to Pineapple Dam, then hike to Shing Mun Reservoir.
