✨️ Today, May 5th, is Buddha’s Birthday public holiday, so we decided to visit the new landmark and check-in hotspot at Ma Wan 1868. The most distinctive feature here is the small houses designed in different colors, resembling a beautiful "rainbow." Some houses even have large-scale murals painted on them, which are truly spectacular 💕. You can really see the designer’s thoughtful creativity, making these murals highly artistic and a popular photo spot for tourists 📸.
✨️ Ma Wan 1868 also features various themed shops, such as an art handmade shop, cultural and creative boutique, pottery workshop, art performances, and a farm. There are also Grade III historic buildings like the Tin Hau Temple and the Old Kowloon Customs Stone Tablet, with detailed explanations to help visitors learn more about Hong Kong’s history.
✨️ Personally, I think besides the rainbow houses, visitors especially love the endless sea views and the Tsing Ma Bridge. We visited around noon today, but I believe the sea view at night would be even more beautiful. You can also try watching the sunset here 👍.
✨️ Ma Wan 1868 has Western-style restaurants, but seating is limited, causing long queues with wait times of an hour or more.
🚍 How to get to Ma Wan 1868?
✨️ You can take bus 230R from Kowloon Station or Fu Cheong Estate, or NR332 from Kwai Fong. We took NR332 to Ma Wan and then walked about 15 minutes to Ma Wan 1868, which is convenient and quick 👍.
✨️ You can also take a ferry from Tsuen Wan Ferry Pier to Park Island Ferry Pier, which takes about 15 minutes, perfect for visitors who enjoy ferry rides.
