Chak Kong Miu Temple

Windmill Temple or Che Kung Temple
This temple was built to commemorate Che Kung, a warrior who protected the last emperor of the Song Dynasty to escape to Sai Kung or the New Territories today. And 300 years ago, there was a story that a large group of pirates wanted to rob Sha Tin Village. The people evacuated their belongings. Along the way, a woman met an old man with a long white beard, looking intimidating. He told the woman to tell the villagers to return to their village and fold as many paper pinwheels as possible and stick them in front of the village. The miracle happened when the large group of pirates passed through the village without looting. The villagers believed that the old man was General Che Kung. The villagers therefore built the Windmill Temple to commemorate Che Kung, who protected the last emperor of the Song Dynasty and Sha Tin Village to live in peace until today. #HongKongTravel #HongKong #TravelAbroad
