#HongKongTravel Visit the Windmill Temple or Che Kung Temple in Hong Kong, one of the temples that those who love fortune telling must visit. This temple was built 300 years ago to commemorate Che Kung, a warrior from the Song Dynasty.
We traveled to Che Kung Temple early in the morning so that there would not be many people. The temple sells incense sticks in various sizes and prices. There will be staff to light our incense for you (if you want to buy amulets or souvenirs, I recommend buying them here and taking them to perform the ceremony inside). Once you have the incense, pray to the heavens and earth in the temple courtyard outside first. Stick the incense sticks until there are only 3 sticks left and take those 3 sticks to pray to Che Kung inside.
If you go in the afternoon when there are a lot of people, there will be staff to lead the prayers in Thai. The staff at the temple speaks Thai very fluently, especially the amulet booths. 🥰
After praying, don't forget to beat the drums and spin the windmills on the left and right sides of Che Kung. It is believed that this helps to ward off bad things and bring in good things. ✨️
If you buy an amulet, you can place it on the temple's tray and ask the staff inside to perform the ceremony for you. Or you can circle the incense pot 3 times yourself.
Popular souvenirs are small tabletop windmills, windmill pendants, and gold sheets with Che Kung on one side and a windmill on the other. The price of the gold sheet is HK$50.
How to get there 🚆: MTR Che Kung Temple Station, Exit B, then follow Google Maps for another 450 meters.
