Located in the center of Hsinchu City, on the busy Zhongshan Road in front of the City God Temple, stands a temple with a long history and a strong incense - Hsinchu City God Temple. Built in the 13th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1748), it has a history of more than 270 years. It is one of the most prestigious City God Temples in Taiwan and the only one that was conferred the title of "Imperial Envoy Inspector" by the emperor. It is honored as "the head of the City God in Taiwan".
The City God is the main god who protects the life and death of the people of a city and the order of the Yin and Yang worlds. The "Du City God" of Hsinchu not only controls the good and evil of Yin and Yang, rewards the good and punishes the evil, but is also the most majestic and fair god in the hearts of the common people. The main hall of the temple enshrines the statue of the City God, with a serious expression and bright eyes. On both sides are the judges, the Ox-Headed Horse-Faced, the Black and White Impermanence and other accompanying gods, with a neat lineup and full of majesty.
