When I came to Inuyama in Aichi Prefecture, I took a half-day trip for a classic and fulfilling trip. I started in the morning and took a bus to Inuyama Station. I first walked along the old street. The streets were full of ancient wooden buildings. It was very pleasant to eat and walk around!
Then I climbed up to Inuyama Castle, one of the oldest existing castle towers in Japan. From the castle tower, I overlooked the Kiso River and the distant mountains. The scenery was as beautiful as a painting. After going down the city, you may want to visit the nearby Sanko Inari Shrine. You can also experience the "money washing and blessing" money washing pond by walking through the red torii tunnel; then visit the quiet Haritsugu Shrine on the way to feel the power of the ancient city's blessing.
Finally, don't forget to end with a five-piece cake or love dumpling in Inuyama Old Street. The sweet and salty taste just echoes the aftertaste of this nostalgic trip.
