Inuyama Castle

Visit Highlight: The stunning view of the castle keep and the Kiso River 🛶
The highlight of visiting Inuyama Castle is undoubtedly the experience inside the keep and the view from the top floor.
• Steep interior stairs: Entering the castle, you'll encounter steep wooden stairs. These were a practical design for castle defense at the time. They're extremely slippery and steep, so be careful. The castle's long history evokes a sense of antiquity in the interior's wooden structures and architectural style.
• Protruding railings (廻縁): The top floor of the keep features a railing called the "mawarien" (廻縁), which surrounds the keep on all sides. From here, the panoramic view of the winding Kiso River and the city of Inuyama unfolds, making it a prime photo spot. Standing on the open railings will give you the thrill of being the castle lord, looking down on your domain. • Harmony with the Castle Town: Surrounding the castle is a well-preserved castle town. After touring the castle, you can enjoy the town's traditional shops and cafes, immersing yourself in the small-town atmosphere of Japan. Don't miss the red torii gates and pink heart-shaped ema (votive pictures) of Sanko Inari Shrine, located near the entrance to Inuyama Castle.
