Raizan Sennyoji Daihiouin Temple, with over 1300 years of history

Raizan Sennyoji Daihiouin Temple, with over 1300 years of history, is located in Itoshima City, western Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, just a 35-minute drive from the central Hakata area of Fukuoka City. The temple was founded by the Indian monk Seiga Shonin and is said to have been built in 178 AD. Situated on the northern mountainside of Mount Raizan, it is also known as Raizan Kannon. Today, local residents and visitors often come here to pray for various blessings such as smooth childbirth, family peace, harmonious relationships, and prosperous lives. Itoshima is beloved for its excellent living environment, making it one of the most livable small cities in Japan. With over 1300 years of history, Raizan Sennyoji is filled with nationally designated important cultural properties. The most famous natural monument in Fukuoka Prefecture is the over 400-year-old giant maple tree that stands proudly at the center of the temple. Every November, large crowds flock to see the beautiful autumn foliage of Raizan Sennyoji.
