Izumo Taisha Shrine stands as a symbol of Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, known as the Land of the Gods.
The shrine enshrines Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, commonly known as Daikoku-sama.
While the shrine grounds are crowded with tourists during the day, visiting in the morning will be relatively empty and allow for a more relaxed experience.
However, please note that the process of worship at Izumo Taisha differs from other shrines in several ways. ⚠️
While the usual worship procedure is two bows, two claps, and one bow, at Izumo Taisha, the proper sequence is "two bows, four claps, and one bow."
After visiting the worship hall and main hall, you will then worship counterclockwise from the main hall, turning right.
Before visiting Izumo Taisha, we also recommend visiting Inasa Beach, known for the myths of the Land Transfer and Land Pulling!
Inasa Beach is also famous for its sunsets, so visiting in the evening is recommended. 🌇
Make sure to enjoy Izumo to the fullest!
