Cherry blossoms at Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture

Hirosaki Castle and the Hirosaki Park surrounding the castle are vast and are listed as one of the three most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. In the park, Yoshino cherry blossoms, Yaezakura cherry blossoms, weeping cherry blossoms and other varieties compete for beauty. About 2,600 cherry blossoms are in full bloom at the same time, reflecting the castle and the snow-covered Iwaki Mountain in the distance. In addition to the cherry blossoms in full bloom on the trees, a large number of petals fall on the moat outside Hirosaki Castle to form flower rafts (はないかだ), and the scene covering the river surface is called a cherry blossom carpet
