Across the river from Shaxi Ancient Town lies a small village called Beilong Village, known for its distinctive gray-white layered roof tiles. Within this village is a literary bookstore, the fifth rural bookstore by Nanjing Pioneer Bookstore, officially named "Pioneer Bai Ethnic Bookstore." Don't be deceived by its modest exterior—step inside, and you'll be amazed by its stunning interior!
The bookstore is a repurposed old granary, while the adjacent Poetry Tower was once a tobacco drying building. Both structures retain their original architectural elements but have been redesigned. The exterior resembles a tall farmhouse warehouse with rammed earth walls, while the interior boasts elegant and refined design. Bookshelves stretch from the floor to the ceiling, creating a full wall of books complemented by wooden structures, which are the bookstore's signature features.
Next to the bookstore, the Poetry Drum Tower offers a resting area where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea while gazing at the gray-tiled rooftops outside the window, exuding a simple and natural charm. In addition to books, the bookstore also sells cultural and creative products, making it a perfect place to relax and explore.
