Chang Family Manor

Among the many Shanxi merchants, the Chang family stands out. From the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty to the end of the Guangxu reign, after more than two hundred years of construction, the Chang family built two streets, north-south and east-west, in Yuci. On both sides of the streets, there are rows of houses and courtyards, which is a spectacular sight. There are dozens of buildings and thousands of rooms. There is a folk saying: "Qiao family has one courtyard, Chang family has two streets." The construction scale of the Chang Family Manor was the first among the residential buildings in Sanjin at that time, and it was comparable to some county towns in Jinzhong. The manor that tourists visit today is only one-fifth the size of the historical one, but it is still very large. When you come here, you will feel that this is not a private manor, but a city.
