Visit the changing leaves in Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou Natural Reserve, located approximately 450 kilometers from Chengdu, is another stunning natural beauty. Surrounding the valley are a variety of trees, including snow-capped mountains, massive waterfalls, and forests. Furthermore, there's a crystal-clear blue lake, reminiscent of a fairytale land, surrounded by trees. The lake itself is a prime spot to witness the stunning changing colors of the leaves. The vibrant colors reflecting on the lake create a breathtaking sight that will take your breath away.

Things to Know Before Visiting Jiuzhaigou During the Fall Foliage Season
1️⃣ Advance booking is recommended! Fall foliage is peak season. Park tickets must be booked in advance through the official website.
2️⃣ The best time to visit is late October to early November, when the vibrant colors of red, yellow, and orange are at their most vibrant. The scenery is truly breathtaking.
3️⃣ Allow ample time for travel. Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou takes about 7-8 hours by car, followed by a 1-2 hour drive up the mountain. You can take the high-speed train, but tickets sell out quickly during peak hours. If you're planning a trip, it's recommended to book in advance.
4️⃣ The weather is extremely changeable. Daytime temperatures can reach 15°C (15°F) and nighttime temperatures can drop below 0°C (15°F). A sweater is essential, so don't be careless.
5️⃣ Morning and afternoon light are prime photography times. We recommend taking photos at Mirror Lake and Five Flower Lake during the soft sunlight, where the clear blue water reflects off the leaves.
6️⃣ Good shoes are a must. There's a lot of walking! The path is several kilometers long, made up of planks and rocks. Wear shoes with good traction and comfort.
7️⃣ We recommend bringing your own snacks and water. There are very few vendors within the park, and prices are high. Bring some snacks and water with you.
8️⃣ The park's hop-on hop-off bus system is very convenient. You can get off at any stop you want, but remember to remember your travel times. The last bus leaves early.
9️⃣ Skincare is a must-have. The air is very dry! Always carry lip balm, hand cream, and moisturizer, or your lips will definitely get chapped.
🔟 Stay at least one night, as the park is huge. Spending too few days will make you tired and miss out on the highlights.
