Kamakura's Great Buddha, Kotoku-in Temple, Kamakura Daibatsu

A prominent symbol of Kamakura, enshrined at Kotoku-in Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, it is the second-largest Buddha in Japan, after the Great Buddha of Dotaiji Temple in Nara and Kyoto. It is a popular tourist attraction for both international and Japanese tourists. It is a designated National Treasure. You can enter the Great Buddha's interior, behind the Buddha statue, for an additional 50 yen. There is a popular ice cream shop at the entrance, highly recommended for its delicious ice cream. A cone is only 700 yen.

Admission: Adults 300 yen / Children 150 yen / Visiting the Great Buddha's interior is an additional 50 yen.

How to get there: Take the JR Yokosuka Line or Shonan Shinjuku Line to Kamakura Station.
A 15-minute walk from Kamakura Station.
