Kamikochi is only accessible by bus or taxi, so be careful if you're planning on going!

𓇼 Weekend trip by car or rental car! Introducing a beginner's guide💁♀️ There are a few things to keep in mind, so if you're interested in Kamikochi, it's worth reading! 🫰
𓇼 Before I found out about the car restrictions, I was excited to camp in Kamikochi.
But... if there's a car restriction, I won't be able to carry my gear!
So, I searched for a nearby campground and found Takasome Campground, about a 30-minute drive from the parking lot. It was absolutely amazing! ⛺️🥹
*There's a campground within Kamikochi! But you'll need to bring luggage that can be carried by taxi or bus. 🙅♀️
𓇼 Kamikochi is a 3.5-hour drive from the Tokyo metropolitan area. It's a bit far, so some might shy away from it, but the breathtaking views are worth the time!

▶︎ Landlady's Tips ☑ You can only drive your car up to Sawando Parking Lot. There are three parking lots: 1, 2, and 3. (Lot 3 is from the base, and Lot 1 is on the mountain side.) Personally, I recommend Lot 2, which has a footbath!
☑ If you're with four or more people, a taxi is cheaper than the bus.
🚕: ¥3,900 per person to Taisho Pond🚎: ¥1,300 per adult one-way (discounted round-trip fare: ¥2,400 per adult)
☑ The bus terminal is located at Kappabashi Bridge (mountain side). The best route is to get off at Taisho Pond just before the bridge and walk toward Kappabashi Bridge!
☑ Once you arrive in Kamikochi, you'll generally need to walk between the scenic spots. 🚶♀️ Allow at least 1.5 hours for the shortest walk. ◎

Takasome Campground offers views of the Alps. There are lakeside and forest sites.🌿You can even fish and eat river fish by the lake! Fishing rods are available for rental.🎣

Takasome Campground is located at an elevation of approximately 1,200 meters!
Even in early summer (the first week of June), the temperature was just 2°C overnight!!
