Kanazawa 21st Century Museum is a contemporary art museum located in Hirosaka, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It is a municipal museum of Kanazawa City. The nickname is 'Marubi'. It is also abbreviated as '21bi'. The museum opened on October 9, 2004, on the site where Kanazawa University Affiliated Junior High School, Elementary School, and Kindergarten used to be.
The building was designed by architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA. The structure features a glass art circle with no front or back, and ample consideration is given to brightness and openness with top lights and light courts. Additionally, the museum caters to user needs with nighttime openings, attractive shops, and restaurants, making it an unprecedented museum characterized by ease, fun, and usability.
