Step into the time and space of Japanese geisha〔Toya Tea Street〕

Walking into the Higashi-ya Tea Street in Kanazawa, it feels like traveling through time. The well-preserved wooden teahouses are on both sides of the stone path, and the setting sun shines on the lattice windows, making me feel like I'm back in the Edo era, seeing geishas walking around and the shamisen playing softly.

This is one of the three major teahouse streets in Kanazawa. It is adjacent to the famous "Higashi-ya Street" but is less noisy and more quiet and elegant. Several teahouses are still open, providing matcha and Japanese desserts. Whispers and smiles can be heard from the old houses, as if time is whispering here.

I sat quietly by the window of an old teahouse. A bowl of matcha and a piece of Japanese fruit are the simplest happiness.

📍Check-in location: Higashiyama District, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture (Higashiya Tea Street)
