The Bridge on the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi

Important landmarks of Kanchanaburi Province 🌉🌤️

🌑 Initially built as a temporary wooden bridge, during World War II, it was part of the Japanese army's railway route from Nong Pla Duk Junction Station, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province to Thanbyuzayat City, Burma.

☁️ Later, it was built as a permanent steel bridge. In late November-early December of every year, the River Kwai Bridge Week is held, open for tourists to visit.

🫧 The River Kwai Bridge has become an important symbol of Kanchanaburi Province. It has been honored as a "symbol of peace".
