The striking red lanterns of Kaohsiung Sanfeng Temple

If you ever find yourself in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, there’s a must-visit spot you shouldn’t miss. Located about a 20-minute walk (or a 5-minute taxi ride) from Kaohsiung Station is the Kaohsiung Sanfeng Temple.
As you step into the temple grounds, the first thing that catches your eye is the sea of red lanterns covering the sky 🏮. What makes this place particularly special is that you can admire the view not only from below but also from above!
While it’s common to visit during the daytime for sightseeing, I highly recommend going after sunset if possible. The reason will become crystal clear once you see the photos.
Fortunately, this temple stays open relatively late, until 10 PM. Pairing your visit with the nearby Liuhe Tourist Night Market could make for a perfect evening outing.

Opening Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
📍Location: Xingde Village, Sanmin District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan
