[Shizuoka] Enjoy the Izu Kawazu Cherry Blossoms and Two Festivals in February

This time, we will introduce the Kawazu Sakura Festival, an early-blooming cherry blossom festival that begins to bloom in early February.

Kawazu Sakura is a specialty of Kawazu Town in the southern part of the Izu Peninsula, and the cherry blossoms that bloom along the riverside are a popular cherry blossom viewing spot.

The full bloom period lasts about one week to ten days, but it seems that you can get a satisfying view of Kawazu Sakura when it is at least 50-60% in bloom.

◆Kawazu Sakura Festival◆
In 2023, it is scheduled to be held from February 1st to March 5th.
You can check the flowering status on the official website of the Kawazu Sakura Festival, so check it out before deciding on a day to go.
The nearest station is Izukyu Kawazu Station.

◆Minami Sakura and Nanohana Festival◆
In Minamiizu Town, the Minami Sakura and Nanohana Festival is also held, where you can enjoy Kawazu Sakura and Nanohana at the same time.
In 2023, it is scheduled to be held from February 1st to March 10th.
You can check the current flowering status on the official website of the Minamiizu Town Tourism Association. You can also see images from a live camera. (Apparently, the best time to see them is around February 15th to 25th.)
