The mark of the train, the old Wudu Tunnel

Location: Baochang Village, Xizhi District, New Taipei City and Dunan Village, Qidu District, Keelung City

Introduction: The old Taiwan Railway Tunnel in Wudu retains the charm of the railway during the Japanese colonial period, and is similar to the old Caoling Tunnel in Fulong. Walking into the tunnel, you feel like you are in the movie Spirited Away. Starting from Wudu Railway Station and moving along the Keelung River, the bicycle paths along the way are well planned, which is very suitable for parents and children to ride together on holidays. In the middle of the tunnel, you can see the border between New Taipei City and Keelung. The wonderful story of crossing two counties in one second is staged here.

Since the completion and opening of the Wudu Railway Tunnel Bicycle Path in September 2019, the number of people coming to experience the old railway tunnel has continued to increase. However, due to the on-site environment, there is still a 1-kilometer section on the left bank of the Keelung River that needs to pass through the urban access road of Section 2 of Changxing Street, Xizhi, outside the Taiwan Railway Wudu Freight Yard. This department uses the high beach space of the Keelung River to open a new 1-kilometer bicycle lane as an alternative route. It was completed on December 31, 2020 and upgraded to a safe route without the influence of steam locomotives.

Tickets: Free

Opening hours: All day

Experience: Trains are a means of transportation that can be seen in countries around the world. However, the earliest steam locomotives are no longer seen today, but some facilities can be used to imagine the glory of the past. Riding a bicycle in the tunnel that used to be a train also has a different taste!
