For those who love nature, love taking stunning photos, or simply want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and breathe in the fresh air... Thale Noi is the answer! This isn't just a lake, it's an aquatic paradise and one of Phatthalung's most stunning views!
'First Light' Mission: The "Red Lotus Sea"
Wake up early for the best photos! The key word is "5:30 a.m." Get to the pier and set off on a long-tail boat before dark to witness the phenomenon of millions of water lilies (popularly called red lotus) blooming in unison, catching the morning sun.
The plump, golden sunlight reflecting off the water filled with pink and reddish lotuses is a romantic and magical sight. Even photos taken without filters are stunning!
The peak bloom for the red lotus is from February to May (check with the locals before you go).
Water Buffalo vs. Water Birds... A Free-to-Enter Open Zoo! 🐃🐦
The coolest water buffaloes in the world are the water buffalo, which have adapted to forage underwater for food. Get up close and watch them swim and graze underwater—a sight both adorable and unusual!
A bird lover's paradise, Talay Noi is a wildlife sanctuary home to over 285 species of rare waterbirds. You'll get to see a variety of birds flying around or perching on lotus leaves up close (bring a good zoom lens!).
Ekkachai Bridge... A chic photo landmark
The longest bridge in Thailand (across the water). Stop for a photo at the "Chaloem Phrakiat 80th Anniversary Bridge," also known as "Ekkachai Bridge," a 5.5-kilometer-long bridge spanning Talay Noi, connecting Phatthalung and Songkhla.
The stunning view here is a panoramic view of the water. At times, you'll even see rows of "yo" (fishing tools used by locals) lined up in the middle of the water, a perfect photo opportunity that reflects the Southern lifestyle.
Chill Slow Life in the "Wetlands"
A natural healing experience: a boat trip in Talay Noi isn't just about beautiful photos; it's also a true relaxation. The tranquil atmosphere, cool breezes, and the scent of aquatic plants are a great way to "reset" yourself from stress.
