📍Fukuoka Prefecture
One of the destinations of the trip: Mojiko Station
The signboard of Mojiko Station is famous, but there are many other things to see. We will introduce the reasons for its popularity and the must-see tourist spots.
In 1988, Mojiko Station was the first railway station building to be designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. In 2019, restoration work was completed over a period of six years, and it was restored to its appearance in the Taisho era, so the interior is beautiful while still having a sense of history and retroness.
The exterior is characterized by its symmetrical structure, which is said to represent a "gate."
Inside the station building, which is still in active use, there are many things to see, such as the "Zero Mile Sign" which indicates the starting point of the Kyushu Railway, the "Return Water" that repatriates and demobilized soldiers used to quench their thirst with a sense of relief when they returned to Mojiko, and the "Lucky Water Basin" which escaped metal donation during the war.
Station buildings are not just a means of transportation, they are also fun to visit, so be sure to use them as a reference for your trip🔖
