The Royal Selangor Club (English: Royal Selangor Club, Malay: Kelab Di-Raja Selangor) is located in Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, and is still a gathering place for social elites.

Merdeka Square is a lawn located next to the Royal Selangor Club. Every August 31st, Malaysian citizens gather here to celebrate the country's independence.

At midnight on August 31, 1957, the British flag was lowered here and the Malayan flag was raised for the first time. At the south end of the square there is a 95-meter-high flagpole, the tallest flagpole in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On the flagpole hangs the Malaysian flag known as the "Glorious Stripes".
