Unforgettable Family Getaway: Soneva Fushi Exceeds Expectations

In sum, our high expectations were not only met but surpassed! We had the best family vacation imaginable. Photos, videos, and reviews of Soneva Fushi abound, yet none can capture the true "feel" upon entering their seaplane lounge, boarding the Soneva-branded plane, and arriving at Soneva Fushi. After a lengthy international flight, they don't keep you waiting in their lounge—our 7:40 am Emirates arrival had us collecting our bags and enjoying the lounge by 8:30, where fresh watermelon juice and homemade nachos with "Soneva" guacamole awaited us. With a brief stopover, our seaplane departed at 9:00—the shortest wait we've ever had—and we arrived at the resort by 9:30-10:30 Soneva time, where the magic truly kicked off. They invited us for breakfast and even extended in-villa breakfast until 3 pm, letting us unwind instantly. This little gesture reflects their exceptional service. Our host, Majeed, brought our drinks before we even realized we desired them. He's a treasure, and we already miss him! The breakfast spread is phenomenal. It took until day three to visit all the different breakfast spots, with so much to explore and sample. Staying 14 nights at Soneva Fushi, we dined at all the outlets multiple times, and each offered fantastic variety, catering to different tastes and cuisines so boredom is impossible. You're encouraged to order liberally from a wide menu, ditching the typical one-appetizer, one-main, one-dessert rule—this way, they can showcase their favorite dishes. We loved dining and lunch at Out of the Blue; the staff was amazing all throughout, and we cherished watching the sunset in the cooling breeze. We traveled with three kids of varying ages, and I confidently say they all had the time of their lives at Soneva Fushi. For teens, Max, acting as Mr. Friday, greeted them each morning with a fun, sporty daily program. Children under 12 had the stunning kids club. The den is truly impressive with its large pool and a fast waterslide parents can enjoy too. Beyond its size, it's the staff that makes the den shine, making it stand out from other kids' clubs. Our kids adored Donna, Soja, Soo, On, Nadoo, and Nadi, who were like older siblings, always engaging them. Donna even went the extra mile by arranging henna tattoos for our kids after hearing their interest. They made adorable bags, jewelry, t-shirts, and learned new card games with the team—even having a party night full of fun! Huge thanks to everyone; we hope to see you again soon. The snorkeling ranked among our best experiences in the Maldives. Snorkeling daily took us past sharks, turtles, and countless schools of fish; some days, dolphins swam near Out of the Blue. During our visit, Soneva Star JP Liendi was on the island offering complimentary fitness classes. They were demanding yet enjoyable, and we loved our workouts with him. Lastly, our experience wouldn't have been the same without our amazing barefoot guardian, Miqdad. Wow! From the moment we boarded the boat until we reached home, he provided unmatched service and kindness. He surprised us with champagne and fruit baskets, and even crafted beautiful villa decorations. He managed all our dining and experience bookings without us even asking. He became a dear friend to our family, especially to the kids, and always knew their whereabouts. When they fell asleep during dinner, he took them back to the villa and ensured their bikes were returned too. He guided them to parties, brought them to the cinema, and was proactive and caring. We couldn't have asked for a better guide, and he will remain in our hearts forever. After landing in our hometown, he even sent us a video of our departure and the seaplane flying above Soneva Fushi one last time. He's truly the best! Shazu shouldn't be forgotten either—I sent countless emails to her before our visit, and she was patient and helpful with all my questions and requests. Thank you! Will we return? Absolutely. No other place in the Maldives will do as long as our budget allows. Soneva has spoiled us forever.
