Respect your rival! Tenryu-ji Temple, Kyoto

#Kyoto #Arashiyama #Tenryuji

The title may not ring a bell for many people.

This temple was built by Ashikaga Takauji to mourn Emperor Godaigo.

Ashikaga Takauji and Emperor Godaigo were fighting over power, but Emperor Godaigo died first, so it is said that Ashikaga Takauji built this temple to mourn the emperor.

It is located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, about a 5-minute walk from Togetsukyo Bridge.

The temple has a magnificent garden, and it is said that it takes about an hour to walk around it once.

It is unclear whether Emperor Godaigo's remains or grave are located in this temple, but when I visited, I was able to learn about the situation at the time and enjoy the magnificent garden and scenery.
