"Nishi Honganji"
Today, we will introduce Nishi Honganji, a temple in Kyoto that is a World Heritage Site.
There are many buildings that are national treasures and important cultural properties, so it is worth seeing🥰
This large ginkgo tree, which is about 400 years old, is called an upside-down ginkgo tree, and the tree spreads out quite horizontally. According to legend, a high priest planted it upside down when it was a sapling, which is why it spread out horizontally.
This tree has been designated as a natural monument of Kyoto City, and when the leaves change color in autumn, it creates a magnificent sight🥹🍁💛
It is also called the water-blowing ginkgo tree because it is said to have protected the main hall by spraying water during the Tenmei fire of 1788 and the great fire of 1864.
By the way, you can see Kyoto Tower from the temple grounds, so it's a recommended temple for sightseeing in Kyoto☺️🗼
