Kyoto Arashiyama Sagano Bamboo Grove

At 6:30 AM, take the JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station and arrive at Arashiyama Station in about 20 minutes. This is the most convenient way to reach the bamboo grove path. It is recommended to set off early in the morning because the bamboo grove is particularly serene around 7 AM, with few tourists, allowing you to truly feel the mysterious atmosphere of the bamboo forest. Based on my observation, tourists start to appear around 8 AM.

Walking along the endless bamboo grove path, the green bamboos on both sides tower into the sky. As the breeze blows, the bamboo leaves rustle, as if telling the stories of the ancient capital. The morning sunlight filters through the bamboo forest, casting enchanting light and shadow patterns on the stone path.

After visiting the bamboo grove, you might want to take the retro Arashiyama train. This nostalgic train, known as the "Sagano Scenic Railway," travels slowly along the Hozu River, allowing you to enjoy the different natural sceneries of Arashiyama in each season. In spring, you can see cherry blossoms in full bloom, and in autumn, the red leaves add a touch of color, complemented by the clear river water, creating a perfect landscape painting.

It is important to note that the Sagano Scenic Railway requires advance reservations, so it is recommended to book tickets online when planning your trip.
