【Inheriting the Spirit of Ashikaga Yoshimasa】Ginkaku-ji Temple

Ginkaku-ji Temple, formally known as Higashiyama Jisho-ji, is one of the sub-temples of Shokoku-ji Temple.
The name "Ginkaku-ji" originated during the Edo period, when it was referred to as "Ginkaku-ji" in contrast to "Kinkaku-ji" (Golden Pavilion)✨

The temple traces its origins to the Higashiyama-dono mountain villa, built by the eighth shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimasa. After Yoshimasa's passing, it became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect and was named Jisho-ji after Yoshimasa's posthumous title, Jisho-in.

While it may not be as dazzling as Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji offers its own unique historical charm and atmosphere✨

A highly recommended spot for sightseeing in Kyoto🎋
