Seiryo-in Temple is nestled behind Yasaka Shrine, situated between Chion-in Temple and Heian Shrine. This serene and picturesque temple offers visitors the chance to enjoy the changing seasonal landscapes in its garden. With the upcoming autumn foliage season, the temple is bound to be stunning. Typically, it’s not crowded, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a tranquil Japanese garden experience. You can stroll through the garden, sit quietly in the open temple space, take photos, or meditate, spending a peaceful afternoon here.
Tour Route: Four Halls ➡️ Garden Walk
The garden features a variety of plants and landscapes, including cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, dry rock gardens, moss, crape myrtle, bamboo groves, and more.
💰 Admission Fee: 600 yen
🕧 Opening Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
⏳ Duration: 1-2 hours
After your visit, you can stop by YAMANAKA CAFE at the entrance to enjoy matcha desserts. The cafe closes around 4:30 PM, so I missed it this time. I’ll make sure to try it next time.
