Epic 2 days Itinerary in Kyoto: Japan’s shrine and temple wonderland

Just wrapped up an epic 2 days in Kyoto, Japan’s shrine and temple wonderland—seriously, this city is a dream for photo-lovers and culture nerds! 📸⛩️ Get ready for vermilion gates, secret gardens, and traditional vibes. Here’s my must-see list for next-level travel inspo:

Day 1: Fushimi Inari & More
Start early at the iconic Fushimi Inari Taisha (68 Fukakusa Yabunouchicho). It’s open 24/7, so you can even beat the crowds! Don’t skip the Senbon Torii—the legendary “Thousand Torii Gates” at the same location. Your feed will thank you.
Next, stroll over to Araki Shrine (12-3 Fukakusa Kaidoguchicho; open 09:00-17:00), a peaceful under-the-radar spot just a quick walk from Fushimi Inari, for some zen amid the red arches.
Want that geisha look? Head to Kyotokimonorentaru Aiwafuku Fushimiinariten for a kimono rental and cool pics.

Day 2: Kyoto’s Quiet Temples
Bright and early, check out Komyo-in Temple (15 Chome-809 Honmachi; open 07:00-17:00). The garden here is a hidden gem—total tranquility!
Unryu-in (36 Sennyuji Yamanouchicho; open 09:00-16:30, closed Wed) has a perfectly framed window view—get ready for your artsiest shot yet.
Don’t miss Tōfuku-ji Temple and nearby Sennyū-ji (Mi-tera) for pure old Kyoto aesthetics.

Tips:
- Getting around: Kyoto’s public buses and trains are super convenient; grab an IC card for tap-and-go.
- Food: Slurp up noodles at local soba stalls or hunt down a matcha parfait in Fushimi’s shopping streets.
- Pro tip: Visit main temples early to avoid crowds and get the softest lighting for photos!
