[Kyoto] Introducing Konkai-Komyoji Temple, the birthplace of the Shinsengumi!

Konkai-Komyoji Temple is the temple where Honen Shonin first built his hermitage in 1175 when he was 43 years old. It is one of the seven major head temples of the Jodo sect, and is affectionately known locally as Kurodani-san.

It was also the birthplace of the Shinsengumi, as it was the headquarters of Matsudaira Katamori of the Aizu clan, who became the Kyoto protector at the end of the Edo period.

In autumn, the leaves are beautiful and the temple is lit up at night.
