Hotel Indigo Qingshui Bay: Great value for money with a "low-interference" service approach! Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5)
Just switched from Kimpton to Hotel Indigo, and in one sentence: "Currently sharing breakfast with Kimpton, just choose Hotel Indigo!" Especially for friends who don't drink alcohol, this value proposition is worth savoring.
🏘️ Room Types/Layout:
The hotel isn't large, with only one building on the east side, and two elevators making it slightly compact during use.
🛌 Amenities/Facilities:
- Family-friendly facilities: Basic configurations meet needs, but some details could be improved.
- Indoor kids' playground: Spacious with plenty of activities, more suitable for children over 2 years old; for a 16-month-old, the main attraction is the ball pit.
- Pool: The adult pool is kid-friendly, with staff proactively offering life rings—thoughtful service. However, the outdoor kids' pool was closed for two consecutive days.
- Other notes: The public areas have many steps, so extra care is needed with strollers. The indoor playground has a slight odor due to recent renovations—those sensitive to smells may want to take note.
✅ Dining Experience:
- Breakfast: Shared with Kimpton, the selection and quality are stable and meet expectations.
- "Ocean View" Restaurant: Currently offers three mystery hot pot set menus—choices are limited, but the 90 RMB credit can be used at Kimpton's restaurant, offering flexibility.
- Chinese Restaurant: The top dining recommendation! Complimentary appetizers upon seating and a fruit platter when leaving. Portions are generous—two adults and a child couldn't finish (had to pack the seafood fried rice and small yellow beef). Highlights: shrimp cakes packed with real shrimp (great value), consistently good crispy chicken, flavorful and hefty seafood fried rice. The 268 RMB small yellow beef with skin was rich in fat but identical to a breakfast dish the next day, which might feel repetitive to some.
- Japanese Restaurant: Elegant ambiance, refreshing passion fruit and pumpkin appetizer, hearty ramen portions. Dishes like local squid were refined but small—no major flaws but nothing extraordinary. Note: mosquitoes were bothersome during the meal.
- Other: The rooftop bar was closed, which was a slight disappointment.
🧹 Service:
Service is low-key, mostly self-service, making for a relaxed stay. There's no proactive hospitality—efficiency is prioritized. However, Alina, who transitioned from Kimpton, maintained her warm service attitude.
💗 Other Tips:
- Prioritize the Chinese restaurant for meals.
- Families with kids should prepare for the many steps.
- Adjust expectations if you're used to high-touch service.
Summary: Hotel Indigo Qingshui Bay offers great value, with the Chinese restaurant standing out. Family facilities meet basic needs, and while there are minor issues like steps and odors, they don't detract from the overall experience. A solid choice for budget-conscious, non-drinking travelers.
