Changsha also has a hidden gem for chasing sunsets and stargazing.

⛳Location: Daweishan National Forest Park

🌟Transportation: Self-driving is recommended. You can drive directly to the top of the mountain. It is a 2.5-hour drive from downtown Changsha.

🪪Admission: Adult tickets are CNY 90. Discounts are available for online bookings in advance. Daweishan is the source of the Liuyang River. It is 1,607.9 meters above sea level. The peaks are continuous and the mountains are stacked. The highest peak is Qixing Peak.

🏠Accommodation: You can bring your own tent or rent a tent on the top of the mountain for camping. Liuyang River Source Camping Base is available. If you don't want to sleep in a tent, you can choose Qixing Villa, the hotel closest to the top of the mountain.

🌅Viewing point: For sunset and stargazing, you can choose the 1608 Observatory. If you stay at Qixing Villa and don't want to walk too far, you can go to the top of the mountain from the right side of Qixing Villa (see picture 3), which is also a good stargazing point.

📍Tips:
1. Be sure to check the weather in advance, otherwise it will be a wasted trip.
2. It is windy on the top of the mountain at night. If you want to stargaze, be sure to bring a jacket and a flashlight.
3. If you want to take beautiful photos, be sure to bring a tripod.
4. The mountain road is winding, so drive carefully. If you are prone to motion sickness, prepare motion sickness medicine.
