Yanyiwei Visit Record|One of the Most Spectacular Hakka Walled Villages

Yanyiwei is the most awe-inspiring walled village I visited in Longnan. Built during the Qing Shunzhi era, it boasts a history of over 370 years. Its walls reach an impressive height of 14.3 meters, making it one of the tallest known Hakka walled villages.

The entire structure is rectangular and consists of four floors, each featuring circular corridors and living spaces. What stands out the most is its defensive design—each corner has a watchtower, the walls are thick, and there are gun holes, clearly indicating its readiness for battle.

Currently, the interior is uninhabited, but the overall preservation is excellent, allowing for a complete tour. If you're interested in Hakka architecture and history, it's highly recommended to spend one to two hours exploring this site.
