Jinshi Gate Tower at Longyou Residential Houses, Zhejiang

Also known as the Overstreet Building, the Jinshi Gate Tower was originally located in Maiyuan Village, Hengshan Town. It dates back to the early Ming Dynasty. While the rear of the building retains its original structure, the front has been modified. Later additions, such as the dougong brackets, were added to accommodate hanging plaques. The owner was Gong Chengjian, a jinshi scholar from the 40th year of the Wanli Emperor's reign (1612). His father, Gong Shiyang, was a juren scholar from the 37th year of the Jiajing Emperor's reign (1558). Both father and son served as officials for decades, benefiting the people wherever they governed and earning widespread praise. The Jinshi Gate Tower is a key protected cultural relic site in Zhejiang Province.
