Let's start our second day of a relaxing trip to Luang Prabang.
We started the day late, with a loose plan, focusing on eating and exploring the city.
We started the day by visiting a cafe right away, as it was close to our accommodation and within walking distance. The first cafe on this trip, formula.b, felt super good. It's a two-story shop with delicious, not-too-sweet, seasonal desserts and drinks, and the prices are good. We sat by the window and enjoyed the view of the old town outside.
After the cafe, we went to the famous Tam Luang Prabang restaurant, Tam Mak Hung N. Tim (N. Tim's Somtam). We hurried before noon because we were worried about the crowds and the wait. We ended up going around 11:00 AM, and there was no line at all. It was great! It lived up to its reputation, and the price was good. They have a wide variety of dishes on the menu. Go try them!
After lunch, we went to the restaurant. We decided to rent a motorbike and drive around the city for about 300 baht a day. We then headed to Huenchan Heritage.
After that, it was time for dessert. We headed to Joma Cafe, a lovely cafe with beautiful decor and a huge selection of desserts. We went to the branch just past Amazon. The lemon tart was incredibly delicious!
After dessert, we rode to Wat Xieng Thong, a must-see tourist spot in Luang Prabang. It's an ancient temple, a symbol of Luang Prabang. We paid our respects and admired the architecture and paintings of the Lan Xang style.
In the late afternoon, we continued on to the Royal Palace of Luang Prabang. You can't take photos inside, but you have to see it with your own eyes. It's magnificent and beautiful. We then paid our respects at the Phra Bang (Buddha's Relic) at the Hao Phra Bang (Ho Phra Bang) within the palace grounds.
After spending some time in the sun, what else was there to do besides eat? We went to Nang Saeng Duean's Somtam Luang Prabang restaurant in Dara Market. It was absolutely delicious.
In the evening, we hiked up to That Phu Si to pay respects to the Buddha and enjoy the panoramic view of Luang Prabang from the top. The city was breathtakingly beautiful, with a 360-degree view of the city amidst the valley. We stayed to watch the Mekong River view before descending. There were so many people going up and down, both running and walking. It was so crowded, it was definitely not lonely.
After descending, we refueled at Zurich. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I loved the dough, and the price was good. The pasta was also delicious and not expensive at all.
And then we had dessert: gelato from Gelato del Lao. They have many flavors, delicious and inexpensive.
Then it was time to go back to bed. Croquettes.
