Wat Phra Maha Chinthat Chao or Wat Phra That Doi Tung is a temple for people born in the year of the Pig. 🐷
✔️Location: Huai Khrai Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, 46 kilometers from Mueang Chiang Rai District.
✔️Phra That Doi Tung is located on the top of the mountain. It is an octagonal bell-shaped pagoda with beautiful late Lanna art. Phra That Doi Tung is similar to Phra That Doi Suthep, which has a 12-sided bell-shaped support, while Phra That Doi Tung has an 8-sided bell-shaped support. Inside the temple, there is a tung mark, a crack in the ground about 1 foot long, in front of the chedi. It is believed that this crack was used to plant a tung base to worship the chedi, which is a place of worship for the Lanna people. Every year, there is a festival to worship the chedi.
The tung is another symbol of the Lanna people, which is considered prosperity and victory. The chedi is a golden house with a high, beautiful structure. Around the temple, there are trees providing shade and looking very shady. It is a temple in the middle of a very quiet nature and is widely respected.
