[Nagano Prefecture] Japan's oldest five-story, six-story castle tower⭐Matsumoto Castle⭐

We'd like to introduce Matsumoto Castle, located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture.

It's a 20-minute walk from Matsumoto Station on the JR Shinonoi Line.

Matsumoto Castle is Nagano Prefecture's most famous castle and a designated National Treasure. It's also said to be the oldest remaining five-story, six-story castle tower in Japan.

The view from the top of the castle tower offers a beautiful panoramic view of Matsumoto City.

The castle town surrounding Matsumoto Castle is lined with soba restaurants, souvenir shops, and cafes. We recommend touring Matsumoto Castle first and then relaxing in the castle town.

We particularly recommend the Japanese confectionery shop Chikufudo.

There's also a garden where you can enjoy tea while admiring the view.

The soba restaurant just before the castle entrance serves delicious soba noodles with horse sashimi and tempura.

The castle tower is closed to the public at night, but the illuminated area makes it a great place for a stroll. Many people stroll around the moat. There are benches along the way, and Matsumoto Castle looks beautiful from the benches, so be sure to check it out from both inside and outside.
