Dogo Onsen is located in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most famous hot springs in Japan, with a history of more than 3,000 years. The hot spring water here is of excellent quality and rich in minerals, which have many benefits for the skin and health. Dogo Onsen not only attracts many tourists, it is also the setting for the novel "The Young Master" by the Japanese writer Natsume Soseki, and one of the sources of inspiration for Yubaba's oil house in Hayao Miyazaki's animated film "Spirited Away".
The Dogo Onsen Main Building was built in 1894 as a three-story wooden building with a unique eclectic style that incorporates various architectural elements. There are luxurious stone baths and tatami lounges inside the building, which give people a strong sense of traditional Japanese style. The roof is covered with bronze tiles, which have taken on an antique patina over time. The building also has a dedicated bath for the royal family and private rooms for tourists to visit.
