Memorable Honeymoon Experience with Room for Improvement

We spent our 12-day honeymoon at the hotel with our 2-year-old son. Entering the lobby was simply stunning. The check-in process is quite comfortable for guests. However, check-in was one of the two reasons I couldn't give 5 stars. After a long journey, we were very tired, and the check-in took nearly an hour. We just wanted to shower and have dinner, but our room key wasn't working. An employee had to return to the reception for a replacement. I suggest that staff escorting guests have a master key. So, we waited 10 more minutes before getting into our room, and then it took another 30 minutes for our luggage to arrive. The process was too chaotic and lengthy for a 5-star hotel. There weren't many check-ins at that time, maybe two more. There's room for improvement here, as well as in the bathroom cleanliness. It was okay, but a bit higher standard is expected. Otherwise, the hotel excels! Rooms are spacious with ocean views. The setting is beautiful, and the landscaping is impressive. There's a private beach and boathouse offering free snorkeling, sailing, and windsurfing. The staff members there are great. We rented a boat to swim with dolphins, just incredible. And the beds are extremely comfortable. There are four restaurants; the buffet is delicious but crowded and noisy at times—though the Indian and Thai food is really tasty. Breakfast was a bit odd, with someone serving fruit pieces. Waiting in line for three watermelon pieces was unusual and slightly frustrating. Service for drinks was consistently slow, often forgetting part of the order. In the evening, it was less bothersome, but I do enjoy my morning coffee... We often went to Segala for an à la carte breakfast. The Indian restaurant is good, but the Asian fusion is another reason for not awarding 5 stars. The quality wasn't great, and we waited 2 hours for food. The childcare and entertainment team are fantastic. They're very kind to the kids and organize fun activities, with great options for adults too. I liked aqua gym for the first time—it was excellent! Nighttime entertainment was amazing every night. We loved it. The hotel is quite remote, which we liked for privacy and quiet, but you need a car to explore the island. We rented one from the hotel for a few days, which was fine since we mostly wanted to relax. You can't walk anywhere from the hotel, with Grand Baie being the closest town at about 15 minutes by car. The views and sunsets are stunning. Friday night was the best, so try to be there that day. Dinner is outside with a Sega show—kudos to the animation team who taught me Sega. I miss them. We had a fantastic time.
