A Remarkable Gem of a Place

Regrettably, our 3-night stay at Lakaz left us somewhat disillusioned. We entered with lofty expectations after reading all the glowing reviews, but for us, the food and service fell short. While the location and vistas truly are paradise, offering a serene haven, it didn't meet our hopes entirely. We were fortunate—and thankful—to receive an upgrade to a private villa. The space, privacy, and views were fantastic, with an exceptionally comfortable bed. Maintenance, however, was lacking; we reported three broken items, yet only one was removed without further resolution for the others. The villas are situated on steep hills, and by the end of our visit, even we, relatively young and fit, resorted to using the buggy. The hotel facilities are impressive—particularly the fitness and yoga pavilion—and the sunset bar view was a standout feature. Unfortunately, the pools weren't heated, making them too chilly to enjoy, possibly more suitable in warmer months. Our dining was limited to one evening buffet, plus a few lunches and breakfasts. The food was acceptable but merely average, not a highlight. Service was quite inconsistent. Some team members were welcoming and helpful, while others ignored us, erred on orders, or seemed unenthusiastic about fulfilling our needs. There was also disconcerting tension among certain staff that we noticed. Overall, while Lakaz is nestled in an exceptionally beautiful locale, it didn't quite measure up to the idyllic paradise we envisioned.
