Sendai Castle Ruins

The most representative figure in Sendai is Date Masamune, and the tourist attraction is the Sendai Castle ruins left by him. This castle, which used to be 130 meters high, used the cliffs on the southeast side as a natural fortress, and deliberately did not have a castle tower to avoid the vigilance of the general. Unfortunately, only the stone wall outside the castle, the rebuilt turret, and the iconic horse-riding statue of Date Masamune remain. If you want to trace more of the castle's past, you have to go to the Aoba Castle Museum, where you can see computer-generated images of Sendai Castle and information on the development of Sendai Castle.
