[Niigata] A magnificent mansion where you can immerse yourself in a nostalgic atmosphere: "The Garden of the Former Saito Villa," a scenic spot

This Taisho-era romantic mansion boasts a garden covering approximately 4,500 square meters (approximately 1,300 tsubo). The garden, which changes appearance with the seasons, features a formal entrance garden, a courtyard, and a garden path that takes advantage of the undulating sand dunes.

The garden, which changes appearance with the seasons, is luxuriously designed to allow different garden views to be enjoyed from each room, thanks to the "tei-oku-ichinyo" design concept that integrates the building (mansion) and garden.

Another highlight is the impressive landscaping, with water flowing from a large stone waterfall approximately 3.8 meters high into the pond.

The wooden door paintings by Japanese painter Sato Shien, including "Peony and Peacock" and "Floral Art" on the first floor and "Bamboo and Chicken" on the second floor, are highly regarded not only for their decorative value but also as cultural assets.

This modern Japanese-style building, based on the sukiya-zukuri style, features floors, ceilings, transoms, and fixtures made from precious wood. Each room is unique, offering a delightful experience of admiring the architectural beauty.

Easily accessible from Niigata Station, it's the perfect spot for sightseeing in Niigata.
