The park is lush with two ponds (moats), a lawn square, cherry blossoms and plum trees. In spring, cherry blossoms and plums are coloured, wisteria in May, hydrangeas in July, plums and ginkgo are coloured in autumn, and stone walls are lit up in winter. It is a resting place for citizens to enjoy the scenery of the four seasons.
In addition, the park is dotted with stone walls with a shadow of the castle, the clock, which is a tangible cultural property designated by Iwate Prefecture, and the warehouse, which is a building from the feudal government period. There are also poem monuments and literary monuments by related literati, such as Nitoto Inazuri, Takuki Ishikawa, and Kenji Miyazawa, and there are many things to see.
