Shurijo Castle has survived two major fires: one during World War II, the other after being rebuilt, and the second major damage in 2019. It's currently undergoing active reconstruction. Officials say it's expected to be fully rebuilt by 2026, allowing you to see Shurijo Castle in its original form! The grounds are extensive, and in addition to the castle currently under construction, you can also explore the surrounding castle walls. Because Shurijo Castle is located on a hilltop, it offers an excellent view of the entire Okinawa landscape, making it a highly recommended attraction. 🤩
