Exploring the History of the Ryukyu Kingdom and the Key Attractions of Naha City
This #History Course explores Shuri Castle and its surrounding World Heritage sites, and explores the heart of Naha City, where the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom lives on. Public transportation (Yui Rail) is convenient.
• Course Structure: Shurijo Castle Park (Shurimon Gate, restored Seiden, etc.) → Tamaudun (Royal Tombs of Past Kings) → Kinjocho Stone Pavement → Shuri Soba (Lunch) → Kokusai Dori (Shopping and Dinner)
• Detailed Description: Arrive at Shurijo Castle Park around 9:00 AM, pass through the iconic Shurimon Gate, and tour the restored Seiden (Main Hall) to admire the uniqueness of Ryukyu architecture. (Approximately 2 hours.) Next, visit Tamaudun, a World Heritage site nearby, and admire the massive stone mausoleums of past kings, retracing the history of the Ryukyu royal family. (Approximately 30 minutes.) Afterwards, stroll down Kinjocho's stone-paved road, reminiscent of a bygone era, and admire the harmony of traditional Okinawan houses and stone walls (approximately 40 minutes). For lunch, savor Okinawan soba at a famous Shuri soba restaurant near Shuri Castle. In the afternoon, take the monorail to Kokusai Dori, the heart of Naha City, where you can shop, buy souvenirs, and savor street food, experiencing the vibrant modern culture of Okinawa.
