Although there was a pork chop rice restaurant called "Tonton Jacky" closer to our accommodation, we ultimately chose a place that felt more unique and more popular with locals.
Restaurant Information:
≪Yamashiro. Tonkatsu≫╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
Address: 1A Hophaus, 3-38-2 Shuri Tiriracho, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, 903-0806, Japan
Closed: Sundays
Lunch: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Since we went around 1:00 PM that day, there were few seats inside, and we didn't have a reservation. We tried our luck, but were told we wouldn't get a table until around 2:00 PM, so we decided to just hang around.
There were only two staff members in the restaurant (one was probably the owner 😅).
They seemed busy, but not impatient, and were very polite.
They offer a few different cuts of tonkatsu (limited quantity available).
We were the last to be seated that day, so there weren't many left. The basics include tenderloin, sirloin, hamburger (ground meat), and a few other less obvious cuts. If you choose two (or two pieces) per person, the portion is usually sufficient.
You can upgrade to Set A: two specialty appetizers, bonito soup, and Japanese rice.
Set B includes six appetizers and a specialty dessert, but everything else is the same as Set A.
(Unfortunately, they're sold out, so you can only choose Set A.)
My family loved the overall meal. The appetizers were unique (miso tofu and tacos!), the bonito soup was incredibly sweet, and the pork cutlet was excellent. It's a restaurant that values local production for local consumption.
*Next time, I'll definitely go early at 11:00 AM to secure a table. I really want to try Kos B's other appetizers and desserts..._:(´ཀ`」 ∠):
