Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Nakhon Si Thammarat

#Nakhon Si Thammarat Wat Phra Borommathat Woramahawihan or Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan
Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is considered a temple that is a symbol of the city and a center of the hearts of the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat and the South. From historical evidence, both ancient inscriptions and many Buddhist offerings, all reflect that this temple has been respected by people from all directions, through time without fading.
This is a "living pagoda" that still drives culture and traditions with vitality, such as:
The tradition of carrying cloth up the pagoda (months 3 and 6)
The raising of the tray (month 10)
The pulling of the Buddha image (month 11)
Especially the "tradition of carrying cloth up the pagoda", a grand ceremony in which Buddhists from all over Thailand and abroad join together to bring a long piece of cloth to wrap the pagoda on important days such as Makha Bucha Day and Visakha Bucha Day. Hundreds of thousands of participants show their strong faith in Buddhism.
Moreover, this pagoda is also the origin of local literature and performing arts. It is considered one of the oldest and most influential pagodas in Southeast Asia.
